Your Million Dollar Marketing Plan Made Simple

Hello, hello, hello! And welcome to this inagural blost post.  As strange as it may seem, I’m kicking off this blog as a quitter!

I’m a quiter.

I challenge you to be a quitter too!!

***If you are thinking, “but I’m not a quiter,” wait, hear me out!***

I’m a quitter and I’m proud of it becuase I’m giving up on something that I’ve been using for a long time.  Something that has been holding me back from putting myself out here and engaging.

This site, this concept, this has been inside of me for a LONG time.  The problem is I’ve haven’t been able to bring it to creation until now because I was holding on to something was not serving me well at all.

Excuses.

Excuses.

Excuses.

Such as:

I’m too busy.

I don’t have time.

She’s already doing that… Darnit.  I just didn’t get here fast enough.

I don’t have the design ready yet.

I didn’t shoot my video yet… yada yada.

Great, I shot the video for this post and it is blurry… I have to REDO it.

I haven’t check my links yet… They might be broken.

Did she proofread this content already? I can’t remember…

Yeah, you get the idea… No more excuses. I quit on the excuses. I chucked the video for this post! And there might even be typos.  Gasp!

My bet is that you have something big brewing inside of you too – a dream, a business, an adventure, but there may be something holding you back.

Together, today, let’s LET GO of that thing that is holding YOU back.

Maybe it is an EXCUSE, maybe it is fear, or a relationship, a belief you hold, a habit, a behavoir…

Whatever it is let’s begin the process of letting it go so you can make way for your bigger better thing waiting on the otherside.

I’ve done it before and as I go through it right this very second, I can promise you letting go isn’t always easy.

1) There may be some pain – I can almost guarantee it. Like me, I’ve excused away not launching this concept for years. Yes. Years. And right now I’m sweating bullets. Literally. But I promise you after doing it, I’m going to fell a million times better. Like I’ve accomplished something.

2) Does letting go mean you are giving up? Or in my case that things won’t be just perfect because I didn’t have everything in just the right order before stepping into this? Not at all. It is perfectly okay to let go of things that no longer serve you so you can make room for all the greatness that is to come. You owe that to yourself. You owe it to the world.

3) Do you think you might need to get rid of someone not something? If it is someone you need to let go of, well that’s not so easy. No. I clearly own my excuses. But relationships we have with people are a bit more difficult to let go of. Feel free to comment and we can engage on your specific scenario, but it is perfectly okay if you need to let go of someone that is causing you negative energy or thoughts that are keeping you from being your best you…. As the buddhist principles support and Richard said to Elizabeth in Eat Pray Love, when you think of the person you are letting go of send him or her light and love and move foward. If it is famly, well, yeah… comment below and we can banter.

4) Each day will get easier… It will. The further you step into the person you are supposed to be, thing will increasingly be more in sync and you’ll get your groove on in a big way.

5) How exactly do I “let go?” If it is thoughts you need to let go of, start retraining your brain by coaching and gently reminding yourself of what is replacing the old way of thinking.  In my case, I’m just stepping right into action.  If it is someone, it may warrant a loving conversation.

So…. What are you going to let go of today? Let me know in the comments.

If any of this resonated with you I’d love it if you share it!

Amber. Great post. Way to put yourself out there.

I think everyone can relate to making excuses for their behavior or for the lack of forward motion in creating their dreams. Just today, I found myself going through some major “I don’t know anything” mind games. And then I stopped myself and asked, “What is this really about?” Well, I am about to launch something and fear is setting in that I don’t know what I am talking about. We all know this talk is complete bullsh*t!

So today, I am letting go of the mind trap that I don’t know enough. I know plenty and what I have to offer the world is meant to be shared.

Now letting go of someone else…you are right. Not as easy. That takes some serious effort and lots of compassion…not only for that person but also for yourself.

    xo

You are so, right, Kimberly! It is complete bullsh*t!! You so know your stuff!! I can’t wait until your program launches!

Here’s to saying goodbye to the mind trap so your gifts can be shared beyond what you’ve ever imagined!

    xoxo,
    Amber

  3. Marian says:

Thanks Amber! Very timely. I was just releasing some of my most annoying nay-saying thoughts. Release, let go, move on & celebrate!

  4. Shannon says:

Amber – as always your words inspire me! I am giving up for today the excuse that I don’t have the ‘experience’ and therefore can’t do something.

    • admin says:

Shannon – that is such a good one and perfect for you. You have such talent and there is so much out there for you. Don’t hold yourself back! xoxo, Amber

  5. Joanna says:

You are a rockstar Amber. Way to put it out there and be a quitter! I love it.

  6. hazel says:

This resonates and motivates. I have just licked and sealed my application to turtleislandpreserve and as I was doing it very very slowly thinking of all the excuses why I shouldn’t go I finallly quit and said,,,,but I really want to experience this place. And as for relationships…you are so right on about moving away from those clogging your brain. Anyway, thanks, I am quitting….

  7. Fawn says:

Amber, timely post for me today. I am quitting fear. I am going to replace fear, doubt and insidious thought by reminding myself WHY I’m doing this in the first place. (Working out launching out on my own as a freelance designer.) Thanks!
    xo

    • Amber says:

Awesome, Fawn! Your work is excellent — yesss, replace the fear and doubt with thoughts of why. There is great power in tying our actions to the higher vision/why. Speaking of action, it is important to stay in action too — something I continually have to remind myself of when I get held back by fear. Keept it up sista! 🙂

  8. MC says:

    Amber,
I really do wish you find a way to be more open about your thoughts! (ha!)
I am going to quit something myself. I am not sure what yet, but I am gonna do it.
Caffeine? No…..too late for that. Too far in to the addiction.
Smoking? I guess I can’t quit something I never started.
I know – I am gonna quit yappin’ and just say I LOVE YOUR blog 🙂

  9. jill says:

UGH! You’re so right! I love this first blog post! I’m going to quit worrying about “what if i fail” and just start doing and being AND being present. I just started a new job yesterday and keep worrying that I’m going to fail miserably at it. I’m going to keep this post in mind. I HAVE TO LET GO of that fear of failing or else I’ll mold my fears right into a reality. I QUIT!

    • admin says:

Jill. Yay! You’re a quitter! 😉 Excellent thing to quite. I read a book once, I’ll let you know when I remember the author and the name of the book, but he suggested using a filter question when you worry. Specifically, when you find yourself worrying, ask yourself “can I control this.” If not, move on. If there is an aspect you can controle, like preparing for your first day at work or reading up on lactation 🙂 because you know you’ll be speaking with a nursing mother tomorrow, for example, then do that. Regardless, there is no point in worrying. Stop. Or step into action. xoxo

  10. Annette says:

Thank you ~ fear definitely holds me back! I have a hard time stepping out of my “comfort zone”. I’ve been asked by employer to go to our Ireland branch for a week every other month for the next 6 months. I don’t know what to do. I’m so terrified! If I were going with someone else there would be no question I’d go. Talk about outside my comfort zone!

    • admin says:

FEAR is such a big one! Honestly, there is a little bit of fear underlying my putting myself out here like this too.

Ireland – that’s fabulous! It can be a little unnerving to travel internationally solo! I was once in South Korea and got lost just a few miles from my hotel because I couldn’t find a cab driver who understood English to return me to my destination. Talk about scary. My lesson learned is that I will take the hotel business card in Korean (not English) next time. Woops! 🙂 You will not have that, however!

If you want to talk to someone about traveling internationally solo, Jill (the comment above) is your girl. She travels internationally alone frequently!

Be sure to let us know how your trip went!

  11. Melody Granger says:

Amber, first I must say…your website is BEA-U-TI-FUL!

I quit the perfection…AGAIN! I quit that long-ass sales letter, too;-) My peeps are waiting for me to kick off my summer program, so I just need to give ’em the basics and let them sign up already!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement & reminder to BE, to DO, and ENJOY it! Even through the excuses.

    • admin says:

Thanks, Melody!!! It is clearly still under construction and there are some things we are updating, but I wanted to get it out there before I made up another good reason (ahem, excuse) to delay! 🙂

Good for you!! Goodbye perfection. You are so damn good without it anyway! Can’t wait to see your summer program come to life!

  12. Marta Spendowska says:

Amber, so good good for you !
We love quitters, right ? It means a strong, devoted, emotional creature that — even if doesn’t know yet — will figure THIS out.

Funny, because I relaunch my website with the post : Quitting.
It’s brilliant. Walking away TOWARDS, because that’s what we’re talking about, right? TOWARDS.

The day before I said Goodbye to my ad agency, I packed 3 bags for Goodwill and cleaned up my fridge. There is still one addiction and attachement : books.
    The cure will come..

My friend is a psychiatrist and we both are books hoarders. That was the EMBLEM for our — sometimes lonely — childhood. So, you know.. i’ts kinda hard to let go of that EMBLEM.
Bringing this simplistic idea to an attention for someone whom it can help in “having/letting go” action.

    Sending lotsa love and encouragement!
    Keep it tuned up high!

    Marta, Polish, yours;)

    • Amber says:

Marta, you rock! I recently converted to digital books…. Love! But the feelof a good book in hand with good smelling pages is something I can appreciate.

  13. Melissa Wright says:

Hey Amber! I totally LOVE your new site! It is incredible.

I can relate with almost every single one of your excuses as I have thought those exact same things over the last couple years that I have been building my online business!

I am with you! I quit letting life get in the way and letting excuses hold me back!

Thank you so much for having the courage to put yourself out there! You are going to have such a huge impact on so many lives! I am really looking forward to seeing where you take us!

    • Amber says:

Oh, thanks Melissa!! So much to do still, but it’s all moving in the right direction. I’m so glad to be quitting the excuses with you. It feels good, yes?

  14. Basil Laraia says:

I simply want to say I am newbie to blogging and really savored you’re website. Probably I’m want to bookmark your blog . You amazingly come with amazing article content. Thanks a bunch for sharing your blog site.
